U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) joined President Biden, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Senator Rob Portman to announce Intel will build a $20 billion semiconductor plant in New Albany which is expected to create 10,000 jobs.

The plant will establish a long-term, reliable source of semiconductors, which are essential to U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. It also will support critical Ohio industries, like the auto industry and other high-tech manufacturing.

“Today, we are burying the term ‘rust belt.’ Intel’s record investment in our state confirms what we already know: Ohio workers represent the vibrant, dynamic workforce who will lead our country into the future,” Brown said. “This plant will mean 10,000 new, good-paying jobs, and it will position Ohio as the national leader in this critical, growing industry.

“We know how to speed up our supply chains, lower prices, and better compete with China: make more things in America – and there’s no better place to do it than Ohio.”
